If you are interested in adventure stories, the outdoors, or taking risks this book is for you!
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer details the author’s attempt to climb Mount Everest during the now infamous 1996 disaster. In the ’80s and ’90s, which saw a boost in climbing popularity, groups were (and still are) getting stuck in “traffic jams” on their way up the mountain. There is a huge competition between climbing teams, and Krakauer cites that safety was jeopardized in the group’s scramble to the top. Who makes it to the top first, and what is sacrificed for that honor? This can only mean two things at 29,029 feet- disaster and death. Read and learn how Krakauer made it out alive to tell his story, and find out who didn’t get so lucky.
