Attention Writers: There are currently three writing contests posted in the English hallway that are looking for submissions:
While the Collab Poetry Contest has just closed, their Short Fiction contest is still open. Check the Collab Website for details, or bring your original stories to Mr. Lally by October 22. The top entry will win a t-shirt from Out of Print Clothing.
The Bennington Young Writers Awards are now open to all high school students, and are calling for any original stories, poems, essays or one-act plays (two prizes of $500 and $250 will be awarded to the top entries in each genre). The deadline for these contests id November 1.
And the Kenyon Review’s Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers has announced the dates for their annual contest for the best poetry from any student in grades 10 or 11. The winner receives a free scholarship to the highly acclaimed Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop in Ohio in the summer of 2014. The contest is not yet open, but it will be open for submissions from November 1 through November 30.
Keep your eye for the announcement wall in the English Department for more contests as the year goes on.
Good luck, writers!
