After nearly 2 million votes were cast in twenty different categories, Goodreads has announced its winners of the 2013 Readers’ Choice Awards. Although the results on Goodreads are always a bit populist (was J.R.R. Tolkein really the best poet of the past 12 months?), the winners always give a good sense of what books are being widely read and widely praised, and you might get a few titles to add to your must-read list.
Among some of the highlights:
BEST FICTION: And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini (author of The Kite Runner)
BEST NON-FICTION: The Autistic Brain by Temple Grandin
YOUNG-ADULT FICTION: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Other 2013 winners include Stephen King, Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, J.R. R. Tolkein, Malala Yousafzai, and Veronica Roth. To check out all of the winners, as well as the top 20 in each category…
