BHS Students Recognized in 2016 Scholastic Writing Awards

The results of the 2016 Scholastic Writing Awards have just been announced, and the English Department wishes to share the names of the students who were recognized this year for their exemplary work, as we have once again had a number of students receive recognition for their writing. The Scholastic Awards are among the most prestigious awards available for high school writing, and the following three students received awards for their work:

Silver Key
Rebekah Aran – “A Special Case” (short story)
Rebekah Aran – “Deep Down Dark” (portfolio)

Honorable Mention
Sidra Afzal – “Home” (poetry)
Sidra Afzal – “These Beautiful Brutal Wars” (poetry)
Benedict Grubner – “A tiresome issue” (journalism)

Benedict’s piece is currently the highest-ranking piece we’ve ever had in the Journalism category. Congrats to him, and to Ms. Graham, our Journalism teacher!
