BHS Students Recognized in 2017 Scholastic Writing Awards

The results of the 2017 Scholastic Writing Awards have just been announced, and the English Department is excited to report that we have a number of students in the high school who have earned this national recognition. The Scholastic Awards are among the most prestigious awards available for high school writing, and the following four students received awards for their work:

Silver Key
Sidra k. Afzal – “Sticks and Stones” (poetry)
Laura Frustaci – “Red Roses” (flash fiction)
Benny Grubner – “Who’s Hatin’ Now?” (poetry)

Honorable Mention
Sidra k. Afzal – “lol nope.” (poetry)
Benedict Grubner – “Wrong turn; how the BHS 1:1 technology program has failed us” (journalism)
Laura Harder – “Thirteenth Year” (humor)

Benny and Sidra both earned an Honorable Mention in last year’s Scholastic Contest as well. Congratulations on the sustained success!
