Practice: First, Second, and Third Person

In academic writing, you ALWAYS want to use third person. Circle the first and second person words below and REVISE to make this whole paragraph in third person.

I think that the racism in The House on Mango Street is terrible. For example, I was sad when Geraldo dies because the surgeon does not come. You should take care of everyone and treat all of our injuries even if we’re not white. You should also not leave a neighborhood just because people of color move in, like Cathy does. Cisneros wants us to know how terrible racism is. As you can see, there are a lot of racist people on Mango Street.
