One more rule (not on the website):
An INDEPENDENT CLAUSE can be a sentence by itself (just like an INDEPENDENT PERSON can take care of herself).
A DEPENDENT CLAUSE cannot be a sentence by itself (just like a DEPENDENT PERSON cannot take care of herself).
A CLAUSE has a NOUN and a VERB.
A PHRASE is missing either a noun or a verb.
